Global Warming - Is It Settled Science?

According to that guru of man-made “global warming”, Al Gore (a/k/a Al Bore), man-made global warming is a fact, a slam dunk, beyond a doubt, and “settled science”. Sez who?

The flunky's who follow Al Gore, and his “green energy minions”, have claimed that 99% of the scientific community have concluded that the theory of man-made global warming is a reality and only a small disgruntled group of “global warming deniers” are challenging the consensus of the scientific community. Not so fast Al Gore!

A growing number of scientists say the climate change debate is far from over, and global warming was never a crisis, as Al Gore wanted us to believe. Over 560 certified meteorologists and climate scientists are on a U.S. Compilation of climate cataclysm skeptics - and, 32,000 scientists have signed the “Oregon Petition”, saying that they dispute claims humans are causing climate change. They say the dominant “greenhouse” gas is water vapor, which nature controls via evaporation and precipitation.

Since I was in grade school, I remember hearing in my 2nd grade science class that people breathe in oxygen and breathe out carbon dioxide (CO2), plants “breathe” in carbon dioxide and “breathe” out oxygen. It seems like Al Gore and his “green” (does the green refer to the “greenbacks” they expect to make by pushing this scam?) friends who are scientists and journalists missed that day in science class. This “evil” gas (CO2), which seems to inundate this planet, are producing plants that are getting bigger and stronger by taking in more CO2, and, I presume, sending out more O2 (oxygen). Could it be that a little extra CO2 in the atmosphere, rather than spelling out “doom and gloom”, is actually a good thing? Could it be that increased CO2 will mean stronger plants and trees, and thus, more and better crops and healthier forests?

The Al Gore sycophants who believe in the theory of global warming, say that all the scientific global warming “deniers” are bought and paid for by the energy companies. Well, let me give you three names of reputable (among many others), real-live climatologists and meteorologists who are “deniers” because of their scientific expertise and not because of any “fantasy” payments by the energy companies. There is Dr. Timothy Ball, environmental consultant and former meteorology professor at the University of Winnipeg; Dr. Richard Lindzen, meteorologist and Alfred P. Sloan professor of meteorology and climatology at M.I.T; and John Coleman, meteorologist and founder of the “Weather Channel”, who has called man-made global warming “the biggest scientific scam in history”. They all pooh-pooh the so-called flawed data of the U.N. sponsored I.P.C.C. who were caught “cooking the books” a few years back in order to prove the bogus theory of man-made global warming.

So when global warming (a/k/a climate change) fanatics try to sell you their “snake oil”, tell them to stop “blowing that false smoke out their butts” as you don't believe it and that you have thousands of scientists and climatologists who will back you up.

So, Al Gore, the only “settled science” on your theory is that it is in your thick head, with nothing to back it up but “junk science”.

MORT’s meanderings

Only the serious need apply.
In every news cycle, that’s 60-minutes of every hour, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and all 52 weeks in every year – we are bombarded with stories that defy rational explanation.  All too often, they are incredulous.
An inordinate proportion of these news items have to do with our duly-elected public officials and our elected representatives at all levels of government.  Or, they involve activists who worked to get them voted into office.  Or, wannabee candidates who are organizing their campaigns and beating the bushes for endorsements & funding, with a view toward winning support in the upcoming election cycle.
Stories of fraud and abuse in the handling of public funds (our tax money) abound. Stories of nepotism, cronyism, old-boy networks, gay & lesbian connections, buddy systems and ethnic cliques in government at all levels, give ample proof of the stunning  prevalence of widespread political corruption.  It is enough to make one’s skin crawl.
The idea of becoming an elected public official appeals to primarily, two categories of people:   Those who want to serve the public good; and those who want to serve themselves, for good.
We need serious people who are motivated by the principles upon which this country was founded.  There are examples of corruption and malfeasance from those elected to  the least powerful posts in small rural communities – to local and State offices – to Senate and House seats in the Congress - to the highest elected office, the Presidency.
Unfortunately, we can put names – lots of names – to seriously corrupt, seriously inept, seriously unqualified, seriously unfit and seriously un-serious people - who currently hold far too many of these positions.
There is a mid-term election looming dead ahead.  Let us, each of us, do our part in making damned certain that the people we accept as candidates are serious.  Let us, each of us, make damned certain that we arm ourselves with verified information about those who would represent us.  And, let us be damned serious about sending the right people to represent us at City Hall and in the halls of our FedGov in Washington, D.C.
Seriously,

Are We a Nation of the "Disabled"?

It seems we are headed this way as our Social Security disability program (SSI) is booming and shows no signs of lessening in the near future unless something is done.

Within the past few years, we've heard of documented stories whereby train conductors in New York, have 90% of their retirees on "disability payments" instead of the regular state retirement plan in force (disability payments are generally tax-free). Is being a train conductor such a dangerous job as to produce this amount of disability claims or is it a scam perpetrated by the workers, their unions, and unscrupulous doctors , who write phony diagnoses? There are fraud prosecutions and investigations relating to this scam presently underway.

On the fedreal level, the cost of disability claims to our fragile economy will run into the tens of billions of dollars a year in lost wages and diminished tax revenues. A person collecting disability doesn't add to the GDP, he detracts from it. Many economists say relatively few people are likely to trade their disability checks for pay checks, in part because the program doesn't give much incentive to leave the program. Another incentive to stay on disability is that after two years, people on disability are eligible for Medicare health insurance - which is another government benefit that encourages recipients to stay put collecting disability. The nations burgeoning disability roster stems partly from an aging workforce: "Baby Boomers" bodies are breaking down, but "Boomers" aren't the only one's seeking help, of the nearly 9 million former workers receiving federal disability benefits, more than 2.5 million are in their 20's, 30's, and 40's.

Since the depth of the latest recession, and people using up their unemployment benefits, many opt to go on federal SSI (disability) to continue getting federal handouts.

Inundating the airwaves over the past few years, have been "baracuda" lawyers who have encouraged citizens to apply for federal disability benefits, and getting in on the fraud by getting a piece of the "money pie". One of the biggest lawyer groups who have reaped millions of dollars in fees is the firm of Binder & Binder. This is a typical case of "ambulance chasing" on the part of the legal profession. Last year, Social Security paid $1.4 billion in fees to disability advocates (lawyers).

When the government gets involved in trying to help people, it invariably screws up the situation due to the lax oversight by the government bureaucrats in charge of these programs. Another example is the food stamp program, whereby many people (at last count about 48 million) who ordinarily would not qualify, now are "gaming" the system and ripping off the government (which means you and I the taxpayers).

All this fraud is seemingly overlooked by the Democrats and the Obama Administration, as the more people dependent on government handouts the more likely they'll vote for the Party (the Democrats) who will keep the handouts coming their way. Is this way we (the U.S.A.) became the pre-eminent country in the world? I think not! Let's go back to ways that made our country great, with a hand up, not a hand out.

Is the ICU too late for America?

For most of us who were born prior to the sixties, the downward spiral America
is now in cannot be denied. The causes and who is responsible can be identified
by what and by whom its proponents are.

Who wants to lower standards so everyone can be a competitor, whether qualified
or not? The, everybody is a winner syndrome. It goes hand in hand with, "Political
Correctness," designed to shut down conservative first amendment rights.

Who is against the second amendment, whose stance does nothing to save life, but
is for abortion on demand that takes life?

Who is in your face, to our predecessors who waited and followed the rules, and the
present day hopefuls obeying our laws, to enter our country legally?

What scum wants drugs legalized for recreational purpose?

Who wants the bath house life style to become mainstream by destroying the sanctity
of one man one woman marriage?

Who abhors Judeo-Christian values, so they can do their own thing?

Who created sequestration in order to inconvenience the general public, so as to
blame it on conservatives. Its purpose back fired, becoming Obamanomics castration.
These labels befit the pseudo democrat (socialist) liberals who besmirch American
ideas and values and weaken the nation. Their champion is the president of our
country, heading an administration that wants to tell the world we are just like
them, so please like us.

Barack Hussein Obama is ashamed of the words spoken by President Ronald Reagan,
"Our nation is chosen by God and commissioned by history to be a model to the world.
The shining city upon a hill."

“Hear No Evil, See No Evil, and Speak No Evil”

This maxim or proverb, that originated in 17th century Japan (using 3 monkeys as symbols), seems to aptly apply to the administration of Barack Hussein Obama. In the Western world, the phrase is often used to refer to people who deal with impropriety by “turning a blind eye” to it , or as someone with a lack of moral responsibility by looking the other way or by feigning responsibility. Does Obama meet that criteria?

The three major scandals (so far) of the Obama Administration, the fingerprints of that proverb are all over Fast & Furious, the Benghazi attack, and the I.R.S. targeting conservative groups for harassment.

Listening to Obama and his hand-picked spokesmen, they really adhere to the phrase, hear no evil, see no evil, and speak no evil, in order to deflect from their incompetence, ineptness, and possible dereliction of duty.

Of course, in the case of Fast & Furious, no one of importance in the White House or the Attorney General’s office knew that guns were being shipped to Mexican drug cartels - according to them, it was all done by lower level administration people. But, in the meantime, pertinent documents have been withheld that would tend to show who authorized this debacle, by using executive privilege as an excuse. Where’s the openness and transparency that he promised us in his campaigns?

When it came to Benghazi, Obama and then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, knew nothing about the lack of security at our compound and annex in Benghazi, even though memo’s were sent by Ambassador Stevens and his Ass’t. Gregory Hicks, alerting Washington of the danger months before the horrendous attack took place. After the attack, the powers-to-be told the world the attack was prompted by a stupid anti-Muslim video that no one saw. They refused, for weeks, to admit that this attack was a terrorist attack by a group affiliated with Al-Queda, and to this day, they still seem to fumble with the word “terrorist” in explaining what went on, on that fateful day of 9/11/2012. Could the ongoing presidential campaign have had anything to do with their pronouncements? Is the Pope Catholic?

Finally, Obama at a news conference with Prime Minister David Cameron, was asked when he knew about the I.R.S. targeting conservative groups for harassment? He stated, at the Monday news conference, that he only found out about it in the media like everyone else did, on the preceding Friday. Is he for real? Is he not the president of the United States? Does he not appoint the Commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service? Well, if you believe what he said, then I have a bridge in Brooklyn I’d like to sell you.

We all know that Obama was re-elected by the close margin of a little over 51% of the vote, mainly by people considered to be “low information” voters - many of them having no clue as to what the issues were and how they affected the country. Many voted for Obama because of his race, by his being verbally articulate, and many voted for him because they didn’t like Romney. To many Obama voters, the “three monkeys” of hear no evil, see no evil, and speak no evil, was their catchphrase and that’s how they rationalized and cast their vote. Now, we all have to suffer through an Obama second-term, thanks to them.

Obama firmly believes that he is a “Teflon president” and that anything negative about him or his policies won’t stick to him and his administration. After these 3 scandals are fully vetted, he might have a different take on his lack of transparency, and finally on his integrity. You could deduce that the proverb of “hear no evil, see no evil, or speak no evil” has been commandeered by Obama and his Administration because as another phrase so aptly describes him, “the Emperor has no clothes”.

COGNITIVE DISSONANCE

Most likely you've heard that term before, but probably didn't know the definition – just like me, until I looked it up.

It is defined as: “Anxiety that results from simultaneously holding contradictory or incompatible attitudes, beliefs or the like, in other words, seeing one thing and believing another”

Politicians (but mostly Democrat politicians) usually fall victim to this aberration. To listen to today's politicians, they all seem to be in favor of “balanced budgets”, but we still have unbalanced budgets year after year. They all seem to see the light and the righteousness of curbing government spending, but do just the opposite in practice.

President Obama keeps saying that in these dire down economic times, we should all make sacrifices, but then goes out and plays over 116 rounds of golf during these past 4 years and during dire down economic times. Is that what you call sacrificing? He keeps promoting the term “shared sacrifice”, but goes about with his wife, “Moochelle”, of living the high life. Of course, even the President should enjoy some recreation/vacation time, but isn't it a bit much when you can do all that golf and also go on multiple family vacations at posh resorts over the summer and winter when many others don't even have a job or an income? He should've set an example for the rest of us to follow. He is the poster boy for the expression, “do as I say, not as I do”. He seems to be milking the perks of the presidency to the hilt, the taxpaying public be damned.

Our foreign policy towards Israel is another case in point where “cognitive dissonance” is in play. Our leaders see and say that Israel should stop building settlements because it might rile up the “Palestinians” and that the Palestinians are living in “occupied territory” controlled by the Israeli's, but he hardly ever mentions, if at all, the rocket attacks upon innocent Israeli citizens as the reason why the Israeli's are reluctant to negotiate with the terrorists (the PLO and Hamas). Seeing one thing but believing another, seems to be the “modus operandi” of this Obama Administration.

To further illustrate my point, the movers and shakers in our government, realize that our education system is in dire straits, graduating many “functional illiterates, even with a record amount of money being spent to make education “better”, but then they ask for more money on top of the money they have already wasted by their failed educational policies. It's like throwing more good money (which we have very little of) down the proverbial rat hole. A perfect example was the Wash. D.C. Schools. About 9 years ago, in 2004, Wash. D.C. Instituted a “school voucher” program, on a pilot basis, to give some kids (approx. 1,500 kids) the opportunity to attend a private or parochial school. From all indications, the parents (and the kids) loved it and the students attending these private schools were thriving and learning in that environment. So what happens, the teachers union, a major benefactor of the Democrats, objected and convinced the Congress and Obama to pull the plug on funding this program in 2011, thereby putting those 1,500 students back into the failing Wash. D.C. public schools. But, in 2012, the Obama Administration, relented, through mounting pressure from Republicans and D.C. Parents (who are almost all Democrats), and he authorized 85 more slots to the original number of students getting “Opportunity Scholarships” (a/k/a school vouchers). But, instead of expanding this program, because it was exceeding predicted expectations, to thousands more minority students stuck in failing schools, he reinstated the program, but for only 85 more students. If that isn't “cognitive dissonance”, than I don't know what it is?

The stupidity of the Congress and the stupidity of the residents of Wash. D.C., by voting out the Mayor, who supported vouchers, a couple of years ago, and having the innovative school superintendent, Michelle Rhee, resign, shows that, in some cases, people deserve what they get. They “cut off their noses to spite their faces”, that is a saying that certainly describes the actions of these stupid people who are the poster children for the term “cognitive dissonance”. Agree?

MORT’s meanderings

After dinner walk.
This evening, Mrs. MORT’s meanderings suggested that following dinner, we should  take a walk in the neighborhood.  Sounded like a reasonable and workable idea and so I concurred (caved), as is my long-established habit, calculated to maintain a semblance of peace as we enter the twilight of our time here in La La Land.
After a nice dinner at home, we prepared to set off on our perambulatory tour.  Normally, when out for such a stroll, I would select a walking stick to add a touch of bon vivant swagger to the adventure.
However, about two years ago, my entire collection of canes, shillelaghs and walking sticks, and the rococo ceramic umbrella stand that contained it, became noticeable by its absence.  At the time, when I questioned Mrs. Meanderings about it, she informed me that I never used those sticks and she’d given them to her Son, who sold things at Flea Markets. Three days passed before I could once again breath normally.  That was just about the same time my voice returned.  At that juncture, while it seemed to make sense to commence breathing again, I made a conscious decision not to speak. It was the right decision.
So, sans an exotic stick with which to aid my swagger and to possibly provide a weapon for use  against the odd, unleashed mongrel,  I reached for my Metric stick.  I like to keep up with  technology and so several years ago, I replaced our faithful old Yard stick (36’ long) with a Metric stick (39” long).  Ready, set, go.
We set off to circumnavigate our block, clockwise.  We’d barely traversed a hundred yards  when both  Mrs. Meanderings and I simultaneously, began to chant litanies of our individual  aches & pains -  both direct and referred, strange tweaks & twinges being experienced in our  lower extremities and unabashed admissions from each of us concerning  our frailties & fatigues that heretofore, had rarely if ever been mentioned..
There was mutual agreement that a turn of 180 degrees was in order.  So we made that turn and hobbled on down the home stretch toward the finish line.
As we approached Kuff’s Kozy Kourtyard, we both agreed that the next time we decided to take a walk after dinner, we’d take the car.

Does Barack Obama Practice Taqiyya?

In the Muslim religion, in the Koran, it is stated that you can lie with impunity when you are dealing with non-believers of Islam (infidels). In other words, lying is permitted when the “end justifies the means”. That is called “taqiyya”. pronounced: (ta- kee- ya) .

Well, you might ask, does Barack Obama, who comes from a Muslim background through his father and step-father and his schooling in Indonesia, where he was listed as part of the Muslim faith on his school records, practice “taqiyya”? Does he tell you lies to further his political and social agenda? Let's take a look at some of the things Obama has said over the past few years to find out if he is imbued with the practice of “taqiyya”.

*During his 2008 campaign for president, he stated that he would accept public financing along with his opponent John McCain, but once he could figure out ways of raising big sums of money from donors, he opted out. It was reported that he spent over $700 million to get elected. In other words, he lied.

*In order to enhance his “street cred” among black voters, he stated that he had ties to the Selma Civil Rights March, saying that his parents met at the march, and as result, Barack Hussein Obama Jr. was born - only problem was that Jr. was born in 1961 and the Selma March took place in 1965. That was a big whopper! Only an Obama “Zombie” would defend that gross misstatement.

*He said he would be the most transparent president in history by placing, on C-Span, all legislation that came to his desk for his signature - but he hasn't put one piece of legislation on C-Span since he became president. Is he that forgetful or just practicing “taqiyya”?

*He said that he wouldn't raise taxes on anyone making less than $200,000. So far he's raised taxes on tobacco, tanning parlors, and, when Obamacare kicks in in 2014, the average persons taxes will go up dramatically, as he will assess taxes on his health care bill affecting everyone, which will be most damaging to employers.

*When the place of his birth was called into question, and he refused to produce a birth certificate, in addition to his health and college records, he went against his promise to be open and transparent. Is he trying to hide something? If not, then why not open up the hidden “vaults” and let us see what's in those records?

*He said that he wouldn't appoint former lobbyists, but he went ahead and appointed a slew of lobbyists to his cabinet and to be his unelected Czars.

*He promised to exempt the Catholic Church from some of the mandates of his health care law, in order to get the votes of some hesitant Senators, but he reneged on that promise regarding birth control much to the anger and dismay of the Catholic Bishops. Liar, liar pants on fire.

*He promised before the AIPAC Convention in 2011, that Jerusalem would be the capitol of Israel to much applause from the Jewish audience, but a couple of days later he said the question of Jerusalem should be the subject of negotiation. Was he pandering to AIPAC, and to Jewish voters, just to gain sympathy for his upcoming re-election campaign? Is the Pope Catholic?

*He said that if the Congress passed his “Stimulus” bill, unemployment would not go above 8% and most of the money would go toward “shovel ready” jobs which we later found out, weren't shovel ready, and they never materialized. Was that a lie or just a gross miscalculation?

*He gave the O.K., through his Secretary of Energy, for the “green” company Solyndra, to get a $537 million loan guarantee even though the Bush Administration turned the loan guarantee down because of the shaky financial condition of the company, and which, by the way, the company eventually went belly-up and the taxpayers took the loss. That scenario has been replicated on quite a few other Obama favored “green” companies. Most all the companies who got these loans were Obama campaign contributors. Would that be considered crony favoritism and a form of “taqiyya”?

And finally, over these past few years he has been blaming Bush for the financial mess we find ourselves in today. Granted, Bush had a hand in the financial down turn, but Obama has never taken any responsibility for the massive debt he has rung up, where the U.S. now owes over $16.6 trillion, an increase of over $6 trillion since he was sworn in in 2009. As a result, the United States credit rating was lowered for the first time in our history. He takes no responsibility and actually wants us to go into more debt.

So does Barack Obama practice “taqiyya”, after what I listed previously, you make the decision. But remember, if it looks like a duck, walks like duck, and quacks like a duck, it must be a duck.

Where's my Medal?

My esteem has reaching a new low since Political Correctness
has become a predominate factor for liberals and progressives,
making me aware I've been missing out from receiving awards
and recognition even if some of my achievements have not been
stellar and below par. Even if you're a blundering misfit, there
are no losers, just winners and everyone gets a prize by P.C.
accordance and collectivity.

Where is my Nobel prize? What did Barack Obama, Al Gore, Jr
and Jimmy Carter do to deserve theirs? And why did Bill Clinton,
who couldn't keep his pants zipper up and lied to a grand jury be
nominated for one. It just isn't fair. I did exactly the same thing
they did....nothing, and that's just what I got, nothing!

And while we're at it, where is my fair share?

Conservative traditionalists need not apply.
